The Legal Descriptions Course is a graduate level course. Participants will be given advanced instruction on legal descriptions and will be drawing sketches of legal descriptions during the course and exam. All ILTA courses are designed for persons with at least 3 years of experience in a related field.
- History, Plats of Survey and Subdivision Plats, Baselines, Principal Meridians, Township Lines, Corrections Lines, Sections and Aliquot Parts, Rectangular, Metes and Bounds, Lot and Block
- Measuring Distances, Angles and Bearing Lines
- Water Boundaries, Encroachments, Condominiums

The exam is required only for persons pursuing the ILTA Certified Land Title Professional designation and requires a 90% pass rate.
This course is approved for 7 hours of continuing education credits by the Iowa Real Estate Commission, and one hour of CLE by the Iowa Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education.
Course participants are responsible for bringing the following supplies to class:
Engineer Scale (ruler)
Calculator with square root capabilities
Layout Triangle (not required but suggested)
