All ILTA courses provided through UNI are considered graduate level courses and are designed for persons with at least 3 years of experience in a related field.

Course Topics: 

  • Legal Entities: Corporations; Partnerships; Sole Proprietorships; LLC's and LLP's.    
  • Special Circumstances: Schools; Swamplands; Road Districts; Drainage Districts; Churches; Board of Supervisors and Government Owned Property; Powers of Attorney.
  • Dissolutions; Change of Title; Basic Overview of Streets; Roads and Highways.
  • Fraudulent Conveyances; Bankruptcy.

The exam is required only for persons pursuing the ILTA Certified Land Title Professional (CLTP) designation and requires a 90% exam score to pass.  Membership in the ILTA is required to obtain and maintain the ILTA CLTP designation. This course is approved for 7 hours of continuing education credits by the Iowa Real Estate Commission, and 6 hours of CLEs by the Iowa Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education.

Course Faculty:

Eric Johnson, J.D. with high distinction, University of Iowa, specializing in real estate law.

Andrew Nordstrom, J.D., Specialist in Real Estate/Title Law and past president of the Iowa Land Title Association.

Stephen Skram, J.D., ILTA CLTP is Vice President of Benton County Title Co. in Vinton, where he abstracts and conducts real estate closings. He is the ILTA CLTP Curriculum Developer.

Kevin Ahrenholz, J.D., Marquette University Law School, specializing in consumer, commercial, real estate and bankruptcy law.

In preparation for your visit to the campus, several safety measures have been enacted by UNI for visitors:

  • Hand sanitizers will be available at every entrance to the building. 
  • Hand sanitizer will be available before the service line for breakfast items, lunch and snacks. 
  • Except when eating, face coverings are required in all campus buildings, and are required in outdoor settings when six feet or more of physical distancing cannot be maintained.      
  • The seating in the classroom will be arranged to allow for 6 ft. social distancing.

REGISTRATION & FEE PAYMENT DEADLINE:  November 13, 2020 to ensure that course materials, including parking passes, are mailed to you timely in preparation for the courseCourse materials will not be mailed until payment in full has been received by the ILTA office.

During the registration process, if you receive a message indicating that there is an outdated security configuration for the ILTA website and that your information will not be secure, you should also see a link to bypass the message - i.e. click Advance > Proceed to secure2.associationsonline.com  ILTA’s website manager, ArcStone, is aware of the issue and has advised that this is due to ILTA’s current webserver security standards triggering these warnings with some internet browsers, and that it is safe to proceed with registration.  The site is encrypted, and your registration information is secure.  The ILTA is in the process of updating its website and that will alleviate these warnings in the future.  During this transition, you may also contact ILTA@austin.rr.com with your registration information, and you will be registered by the ILTA office.
